A story
Bobo the Bear Tries Something Green
Bobo is a little brown bear. Bobo likes honey. Bobo likes berries. Bobo likes bread.
But Bobo does not like green things.
One evening, Mama Bear puts a bowl on the table. In the bowl are little green peas.
"Yuck," says Bobo. "Green!"
"Have you tried them?" asks Mama Bear.
"No," says Bobo.
"Then how do you know?" asks Mama Bear with a smile.
Bobo looks at the peas. The peas look at Bobo. They are small and round and shiny.
"Just one tiny taste," says Mama Bear. "Just one."
Bobo picks up one pea. He sniffs it. Sniff, sniff.
He licks it. Lick, lick.
He puts it in his mouth. Chew, chew, chew.
Bobo's eyes open wide.
"It is sweet!" says Bobo. "It is a little bit sweet, like a berry!"
He tries another. Chew, chew, chew.
And another. Chew, chew, chew.
"Mama," says Bobo, "can I try the green beans too?"
"Of course," says Mama Bear.
Bobo tries one green bean. Crunch! "I like crunchy!"
That night, Bobo tells his teddy:
"Some green things are yummy. You never know until you try."
But Bobo does not like green things.
