A story
Rima Is Brave at the Doctor
Today Rima goes to see Doctor Basma.
Rima holds Mum's hand tight. Squeeze, squeeze.
"I feel wobbly inside," says Rima.
"That is okay," says Mum. "Brave does not mean not scared. Brave means you try."
In the room there are pictures of fish on the wall. Doctor Basma smiles a big smile.
"Hello, Rima. Let us check you are growing well."
First, Rima stands on the scale. "Up, up, up!" says Doctor Basma. "You are bigger!"
Next, Doctor Basma listens to her heart. "Boom-boom, boom-boom. A strong heart!"
Then she looks in Rima's ears. "No birds in there!" Rima giggles.
"Now a little pinch on your arm," says Doctor Basma. "It helps keep you well."
Rima feels wobbly again. Mum holds her hand.
"Let us count together," says Mum.
"One... two... three!"
Pinch! A tiny ouch. And then it is done.
"You did it!" says Doctor Basma. She puts a small bandage on Rima's arm. It has stars on it.
Rima looks at her arm. "I was wobbly," she says. "But I was brave."
"Yes, you were," says Mum.
On the way home, Rima tells her little toy rabbit:
"Hold my hand, count to three. Brave like me!"
